The National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) is an Indian central securities depository headquartered in Mumbai, established in August 1996 as the first electronic securities depository in India with national coverage. It delivers investor services through a network of Depository Participants and digital platforms, handling the dematerialization, transfer and settlement of securities in India's financial markets, and as of 2025 the demat accounts it holds carried assets worth about 464 lakh crore Indian rupees, roughly 4.64 trillion US dollars.
