Rating and Investment Information, Inc., known as R&I, is a Japanese credit rating agency headquartered in Chuo, Tokyo, formed in April 1998 through the merger of the Japan Bond Research Institute, a subsidiary of the Nikkei media group, and Nippon Investors Service, founded in 1985. A member of the Nikkei Group and registered as a credit rating agency in Japan since September 30, 2010, R&I assigns ratings to roughly 700 Japanese corporate and municipal issuers and is recognized as one of Japan's largest credit rating agencies.
