Samruk-Kazyna

Samruk-Kazyna, formally the Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna Joint Stock Company, is Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund and state holding company, established in October 2008 through the merger of two predecessor state funds and headquartered in Astana. Wholly owned by the Government of Kazakhstan, it holds controlling or partial stakes in the country's major national companies, including KazMunayGas, Kazakhtelecom, KEGOC, Kazpost, Air Astana and Kazatomprom, and reported total assets of about 81 billion US dollars while employing roughly 312,400 people across its portfolio. Its stated aim is to enhance corporate governance and raise the value of national assets while pursuing privatization to attract foreign investment, and it belongs to the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds.
