Organized as a ministry-level government body and headquartered in a French art-deco building on Ly Thai To Street in Hanoi, it is the sole issuer of the Vietnamese dong and is responsible for formulating monetary policy, supervising financial institutions, managing the country's international reserves, and printing and issuing its banknotes.
