Tax Foundation

The Tax Foundation is an international research think tank based in Washington, D.C. that collects data and publishes research on United States tax policy at the federal, state, and global levels. It was established on December 5, 1937 in New York City by a group of business leaders including Alfred P. Sloan Jr. of General Motors, Donaldson Brown, William S. Farish of Standard Oil, and Lewis H. Brown of Johns Manville. The foundation operates research centers on federal, state, and global tax policy and publishes annual indexes comparing tax competitiveness across jurisdictions.
