The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) is the official export credit agency of the United States federal government, established February 2, 1934 and headquartered in the Lafayette Building in Washington, D.C. Operating as a wholly owned government corporation, it provides financing and insurance to help finance and facilitate the export of American goods and services, stepping in particularly where private lenders are unwilling to finance a transaction, with the stated goal of creating and sustaining jobs in the United States by supporting sales of American exports to international buyers.
