DEG, the German Investment Corporation, whose full German name is Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft, is a development finance institution based in Cologne, Germany and operating as a subsidiary of the KfW Group. It was founded in September 1962 by former Federal President Walter Scheel to finance long term investments by private companies in developing and emerging market countries. DEG runs seventeen representative offices worldwide and offers loans, equity capital, guarantees and advisory services to support private investment across Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
