The French Development Agency (Agence Francaise de Developpement, AFD) is a French public financial institution founded December 2, 1941 as the Caisse Centrale de la France Libre and renamed to its current form in 1998, headquartered on rue Roland-Barthes in Paris. It finances development projects across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, the Indo-Pacific, the Caribbean and France's overseas territories, combining development-bank lending with implementation of France's official development assistance policy, and since 2021 has operated within the wider AFD Group alongside Proparco and Expertise France.
