Regulatory and Standard-Setting Bodies

International bodies that set banking, financial-stability or anti-financial-crime standards for other institutions to follow, without themselves issuing currency, lending capital or operating a trading venue, including the Bank for International Settlements, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the Financial Stability Board and the Financial Action Task Force. Belongs here: any institution whose primary output is a standard, recommendation or supervisory framework applied by national regulators and banks. Does not belong here: national central banks that both set and apply their own domestic policy, grouped under Central Banks and Monetary Authorities, or agencies that issue creditworthiness opinions on individual borrowers rather than supervisory standards for institutions, grouped under Credit Rating Agencies.
