The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board is an independent standard-setting body that issues International Standards on Auditing and International Standards on Quality Management to support high quality audit, assurance and related services worldwide, tracing its origin to the International Auditing Practices Committee founded in March 1978. Its work is subject to public interest oversight from the Public Interest Oversight Board, and it consults a Consultative Advisory Group of standard setters, regulators, and preparers and users of financial statements to keep its standards geographically balanced and responsive to the public interest.
