Polish Financial Supervision Authority

The Polish Financial Supervision Authority (Komisja Nadzoru Finansowego, KNF) is Poland's main financial supervisory authority, formally established on September 19, 2006 under the Financial Market Supervision Act through the merger of specialized supervisory authorities; its hosting office, the Office of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, became a separate legal entity in 2019. It oversees banking, capital markets, insurance, pension schemes and electronic money institutions, working to ensure proper financial market functioning, develop market competitiveness, provide consumer education and resolve disputes between financial service providers and their clients. Headquartered at 20 Piekna Street in Warsaw and chaired by an appointee of the Prime Minister, it is a voting member of the European Banking Authority, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, the European Securities and Markets Authority and the European Systemic Risk Board.
