The Competition Council (Conseil de la Concurrence) is Morocco's independent constitutional institution responsible for enforcing competition law, its mandate resting on Article 166 of the Moroccan Constitution. Reactivated on November 17, 2018, the council issues advisory opinions on competition matters, reviews mergers and economic concentrations, investigates and prosecutes anticompetitive practices, and conducts sector studies and market analysis, operating trilingually in Arabic, French and English from its headquarters in Rabat. By its own account the council carries more than two decades of institutional history and has issued around 870 decisions, imposing roughly 2.06 billion Moroccan dirhams in fines.
