The Malaysia Deposit Insurance Corporation, known domestically as Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM), is a Malaysian government agency established on August 15, 2005 under the Malaysia Deposit Insurance Corporation Act 2005 to administer the country's Deposit Insurance System. Its mandate expanded on December 31, 2010 to also administer the Takaful and Insurance Benefits Protection System, covering owners of takaful certificates and insurance policies, and it serves as Malaysia's resolution authority for member banks and insurer members, protecting depositors up to 250,000 Malaysian ringgit per depositor per member bank and reimbursing them within three months of a winding-up order.
