Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board

The Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board is an independent statutory body established in 2004 to ensure the effective operation of Hong Kong's Deposit Protection Scheme. The scheme provides statutory protection of up to 800,000 Hong Kong dollars per depositor per member bank, covering savings accounts, current accounts and time deposits of up to five years' maturity in Hong Kong dollars, renminbi or other currencies across personal, joint and company accounts, while excluding offshore deposits, structured products, bearer certificates and non-deposit investments such as stocks, bonds and mutual funds.
