The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) is a government-owned and controlled corporation established on June 22, 1963 under Republic Act No. 3591 to provide deposit insurance to depositors in Philippine banks and strengthen public confidence in the country's banking system. It covers commercial banks, savings banks, rural banks and other Philippine banking institutions, and its coverage limit has risen over time from 10,000 Philippine pesos per depositor at founding through several increases to 1,000,000 pesos effective March 15, 2025; alongside insurance, it also conducts bank examinations and handles receivership and liquidation of closed banks.
