The China Securities Regulatory Commission was established October 26, 1992 as a government agency directly under China's State Council, headquartered in Beijing, to implement centralized and unified regulation of the nationwide securities market. It supervises securities issuers, investigates violations in securities and futures trading, and directly oversees the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges, four commodity and futures exchanges, the Securities Association of China and the China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation. Wu Qing has served as chairman since February 7, 2024, and in 2023 the commission gained expanded authority over corporate bond issuance.
