Fair Wear Foundation

Fair Wear Foundation is a Dutch nonprofit organization that works with garment brands, garment workers and industry groups to improve labour conditions in garment factories. It was founded in 1999, in response to poor working conditions that emerged as garment production shifted from the Netherlands to lower wage countries, and it operates through factory performance checks, audits, worker education programs and complaint mechanisms, guided by eight labour standards based on International Labour Organization conventions.
