Hellenic Capital Market Commission

Regulatory and Standard-Setting Bodies

The Hellenic Capital Market Commission is Greece's capital markets regulator, tracing its origin to 1927, reorganized as an independent legal entity in 1991 and again in 1995, with a mission to ensure the protection and the orderly and efficient operation of the capital market. Headquartered in Athens and chaired by Charalampos Gotsis, it monitors compliance with capital market law and oversees investment firms, mutual fund management firms, portfolio investment companies and firms listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, functioning under national governance while increasingly implementing European Union policy as a voting member of the European Securities and Markets Authority's Board of Supervisors and a member of the European Systemic Risk Board.
