Fairtrade International

Fairtrade International is a nonprofit, multistakeholder organization that sets standards for fair trade certification, registered as a German association and headquartered in Bonn. It was established in 1997, and its work aims to ensure that farmers earn a living income and agricultural workers earn a living wage, covering more than 300 commodities with coffee, cocoa, bananas, flowers, tea and sugar among its primary products. The organization is made up of three producer networks, nineteen national Fairtrade organizations and eight Fairtrade marketing organizations across multiple continents, and it oversees the International Fairtrade Certification Mark used worldwide, with a separate body, FLOCERT, handling independent certification and compliance.
