The Autorite de controle prudentiel et de resolution (ACPR) is France's prudential supervisory authority, operating within the Bank of France and headquartered at 4 place de Budapest in Paris. Formed in January 2010 as the Autorite de controle prudentiel through the merger of three predecessor agencies and renamed in July 2013 when it gained resolution powers, it supervises French banks and insurance companies, works to preserve financial system stability and protect clients and policyholders, and serves as France's national authority within European Banking Supervision and its designated National Resolution Authority under the European Union's Single Resolution Mechanism. The Governor of the Bank of France chairs the ACPR, with a Secretary-General acting as its chief executive.
