The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) is the regulatory body for the overall supervision and regulation of pensions in India, established on August 23, 2003 under the Ministry of Finance following recommendations of the government's OASIS report on old age income security. Headquartered in New Delhi, it supervises and regulates India's pension sector, including the National Pension System, promotes development of the pension market, and oversees Pension Fund Managers through the NPS Trust, regulating pensions for central and state government employees, private-sector workers and voluntary participants from India's unorganized sector.
