COMESA Competition Commission

The COMESA Competition Commission is the regional competition authority of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, established pursuant to Article 55(3) of the Treaty establishing COMESA and currently operating under the COMESA Competition and Consumer Protection Regulations of 2025. Its stated mission is advancing regional integration through competitive markets and empowered consumers, and its core responsibility is enforcing regional provisions against anti-competitive business practices, unfair trade practices and problematic mergers and acquisitions across the COMESA member states, alongside consumer welfare advocacy and policy research.
