The Innocenzo Gasparini Institute for Economic Research (IGIER) is an economic research center at Bocconi University, launched in 1990 by Francesco Giavazzi, Mario Monti and Richard Portes as a joint project of Bocconi University, the Centre for Economic Policy Research and the National Bureau of Economic Research, and named in memory of Innocenzo Gasparini, a former rector of Bocconi University. It is dedicated to building a research community aligned with international scientific standards, giving scholars the conditions to pursue empirical and theoretical work intended to advance economics and related social science disciplines.
