Jan Tinbergen (1903-1994) was a Dutch economist, joint winner with Ragnar Frisch of the first Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, awarded in 1969, for developing and applying dynamic economic models. A founder of econometrics, he built early macroeconometric models of the Dutch economy and later worked on development planning and income distribution.
