The Central Bank of Kenya was legally established on March 24, 1966 and began public operation that September 14, founded after the dissolution of the East African Currency Board. Headquartered in Nairobi, it manages the Kenyan shilling, maintains the country's international reserves, supervises banks, regulates financial markets, and implements monetary policy.
