The Central Bank of Sao Tome and Principe is the central bank of Sao Tome and Principe, a Portuguese-speaking island nation off the western equatorial coast of Central Africa, established on May 24, 1975 and headquartered in the capital, Sao Tome. Wholly state-owned, it has focused exclusively on central banking operations since a 1992 reform separated out its former development and commercial banking duties, and it issues the dobra, holding reserves of about 70 million dollars.
