Finansinspektionen

Finansinspektionen (FI) is the Swedish government agency responsible for financial regulation, established in 1991 through the merger of two predecessor supervisory entities and headquartered in Stockholm. It oversees the regulation and authorisation of financial markets and their participants, issuing permits to financial services companies, creating regulatory frameworks for financial activities, and supervising compliance and conducting risk assessments. It employs approximately 300 people, reports to the Swedish Ministry of Finance, is governed by an eight-member board led by a Director General, and is a voting member of the European Banking Authority, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority and the European Securities and Markets Authority.
